Julie Rose DeFeo
After graduating with a BA in Theatre Arts in 1983, Julie began her creative career in professional theatre in the Philadelphia area. Her 10 year theatre career included acting, directing, playwriting, management and grant writing.
In the 1990’s, Julie moved on to family violence prevention advocacy work utilizing her theatre experience and her skills in management, public presentation and group facilitation for various non-profit organizations.
In 1999, Julie began studies in weaving, surface design, felting, beading techniques and glass bead making. Working with molten glass over a torch captured her interest and she focused primarily on torch work. After just 2 years of torchwork, Julie became the staff glass instructor for TLD Design Center and Gallery in Chicago. Julie has taught and shown her work at national shows and art centers.
Julie began creativity coaching in 2005 under the instruction of nationally know creativity coach Eric Maisel.. Since 2006, Julie has been facilitating the Creativity Continuum, a working support group for artists of all levels.
Julie is currently working in felted fiber with glass components combined into organic sculptures. Her upcoming shows include the “Woman’s Wardrobe: Exposay?”, Chicago, September 2009 and SEEDS, Stables Gallery, Taos, NM, October 2009.
