Philosophy: Education and creativity are my main joys in life and combining them is my life’s work. I believe that everyone is creative—it’s the nature of human beings. My role is to encourage creativity my students’ innate creativity to surface and find purchase in tangible form. I use jewelry design as an opportunity for you to experience and develop your creative abilities.
Method: I teach by using three different modes: Overviews of where we are headed and how each lesson fits in to the overall picture, Introductions of related materials—photos, film or actual samples, and, Studio Time.
During these visual introductions, I point out specific areas of focus and demonstrate related techniques, the student is then encouraged to explore the technique during studio time.
I am always right there with you coaching you through the technique and reminding you of specific points of focus. An opportunity for questions and discussion follow studio time.
My main focus is for you to feel successful in using the technique before moving on to the next step.
A large part of the curriculum attends to your individual artistic development—you will build a personal connection with the techniques, both as a method and for producing a tangible product.
